Qualifications and certificates

Circulation pumps of an industrial chilled water system

Work on refrigeration circuits, electrical equipment and pressure systems requires formal qualifications. ChillerSerwis holds a company F-gas certificate, and our technicians hold personal F-gas certificates, SEP qualifications, a brazing certificate and health and safety training.

For maintenance managers and purchasing departments, qualifications are often the first thing to verify before a service company is admitted to a site. This page explains which certificates we hold, what each of them covers and how we can provide copies.

F-gas certification

Company certificate

Under Regulation (EU) 2024/573, a company that installs, services, repairs or decommissions equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases for other parties must hold a company certificate. Operators are obliged to use certified companies for these activities. Our company certificate confirms that we employ certified personnel and have the necessary tools and procedures, including recovery units, leak detectors, vacuum pumps and calibrated scales.

Personal certificates

Personal certificates are issued in categories. Category I allows all activities on equipment of any charge size. Category II is limited to leak checks that do not require breaking into the refrigerant circuit and to work on smaller equipment. Our technicians hold certificates in categories I and II. When a job opens the refrigerant circuit, such as a compressor replacement, brazing or recovery, it is carried out by a technician with category I.

Validity across the EU

Certificates issued in one Member State under the EU F-gas rules are recognised in the other Member States. This allows us to carry out F-gas work for customers in Germany and other EU countries. Some sites request a translation or additional documents; we provide what is needed in advance. See also chiller service in Germany.

SEP qualifications

SEP certificates are Polish qualifications confirming that a person may operate and maintain energy equipment in a given group. They are issued after an examination before a qualification commission and are valid for a limited period, after which they must be renewed.

  • G1, electrical equipment: needed for work on control panels, motors, compressors and power supply of chillers.
  • G2, heat equipment: covers refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment, as well as heating installations and pumps.
  • G3, gas equipment: relevant for rooftop units with gas burners and other gas-fired sections we encounter during service.

Brazing

Refrigerant pipework is joined by brazing, and the quality of these joints decides whether the circuit stays tight for years. Our technicians hold a brazing certificate and braze under a flow of dry nitrogen, which prevents oxide scale inside the pipes. Oxide scale is one of the typical causes of blocked expansion valves and filter driers after poorly executed repairs. After brazing, the joints are pressure tested with nitrogen before evacuation.

Health and safety

Industrial sites have their own safety rules, permits to work and lockout procedures. All our field staff complete health and safety training and follow the rules of the site. Before starting work we agree on isolation of electrical supply, access to roofs and plant rooms, and the handling of refrigerant and glycol. Personal protective equipment is part of the standard equipment of every service vehicle.

Tools and records

Qualifications are only part of the picture. Correct work also requires suitable tools: refrigerant recovery units and cylinders, vacuum pumps with vacuum gauges, electronic scales for charging by weight, electronic leak detectors, thermometers, clamp meters, insulation testers and refractometers for glycol. Refrigerant quantities added or recovered are recorded and reported to the operator, who must keep equipment records under the F-gas regulation. Details are on our page about F-gas leak checks.

Copies of certificates

Copies of the company certificate and of the personal certificates of the technicians assigned to your job can be sent by e-mail before the visit, so that your safety or purchasing department can complete the contractor admission in time. If your site uses a contractor portal, let us know which documents are required.

Frequently asked questions

Are your F-gas certificates valid in Germany?

Yes. Certificates issued under the EU F-gas rules in one Member State are recognised in the others. If the site requires a translated copy, we provide it before the visit.

Who may open the refrigerant circuit?

Only a technician with a category I personal certificate, working for a company with a company certificate. Leak checks without breaking into the circuit may also be performed by category II holders.

Do you work on units with flammable refrigerants?

We assess each case individually. Units with A2L or A3 refrigerants require suitable tools, ventilation and procedures, which we confirm before accepting the job.

Can you send certificates before we place an order?

Yes. Send a request by e-mail and we will provide copies of the relevant documents.

Need our documents for contractor approval?

Write to us and we will send copies of the certificates relevant to your job.
