Legal obligation and good practice

Operators of equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases must have it checked for leaks at intervals depending on the charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Our certified technicians carry out the check, record the result and point out anything that needs attention.

  • Leak check with electronic detector and inspection of joints and components
  • Check of the automatic leak detection system where installed
  • Record of refrigerant type, charge and CO2 equivalent
  • Report with findings and recommendations
Intervals

How often is a leak check required?

Standard intervals for equipment without a leak detection system. With a working leak detection system the intervals are longer. Hermetically sealed equipment has its own thresholds.

Charge (t CO2 eq.)Check interval
5 to below 50every 12 months
50 to below 500every 6 months
500 and moreevery 3 months
FAQ

F-gas leak checks: frequent questions

Can a Polish company do leak checks in Germany?
Yes. Certificates under Regulation (EU) 2024/573 are recognised in all EU member states.
Does the leak check include a full service?
No. A leak check is a separate task. We recommend combining it with a technical inspection to save travel costs.
What if a leak is found?
We locate it, record it and offer the repair. The equipment must be checked again after the repair.
